Sceptile-Mega (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Parting Shot
- Destiny Bond
- Spore
What is this for? What does this mean? What does this do? Let's see.
This Sceptile mega is basically a haxster set with Prankster Taunt, Parting Shot, Destiny Bond, and lets not forget Spore. This Sceptile is basically a Hit and Run set with Taunt and Spore, then parting shot to escape and lower opponent's Attack and Special Attack. Sceptile-Mega isn't too common in Classic Hackmons, especially as a prankster. This set isn't too bad actually. It'd fit just right in the metagame since it does involve a lot of switching anyways. Well anyways, I'll just talk about the purpose of this Pokemon's moves, some advantages and disadvantages as well.
Advantages and Disadvantages of this set
Advantages
Tears down set up Pokemon with Parting Shot, Taunt, Spore, and Destiny Bond (If needed at the moment)
Parting Shot going almost always first due to prankster priority
Spore making opponents fall asleep so you can use parting shot
Focus Sash just in case anything surprising happens and you don't use Destiny Bond
Destiny Bond to bring the opponent down with you after you faint
Prankster (Sceptile-Mega is one of the fastest Pokemon, not many people would tell if it's prankster or not from these moves)
Sceptile-Mega would be almost untouchable by Deoxys-Speed and dangerous Mold Breakers/Teravolt/Turboblaze
High Speed
Stops common Wonder Guard from setting up or recovering
Disadvantages
Gale Wings
Aerilate (especially)
Safety Goggles opponents
Lum Berry opponents
Chesto Berry opponents
Magic Bounce opponents
Faster Pranksters (If there are any, which there are but almost never common especially with the few Pokemon faster than Sceptile-Mega)
Taunted
For the moves, every move has a reason why Sceptile has them
- Taunt to stop opponents from setting up, recovering, or even baton passing.
- Parting Shot to basically escape the scene of the battle while lowering opponent's Attack and Special Attack.
- Destiny Bond (Sceptile-Mega: If I go down, you're coming down with me!) This move basically brings the opponent down with them if the opponent faints Sceptile-Mega with a hit.
- Spore to make opponents fall asleep. This also gives you more a chance to switch to another good Pokemon at the moment.
Caliburn (Aegislash) (M) @ Mail
Ability: Prankster
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
- Destiny Bond
- Wish
- Substitute
- Baton Pass
This Aegislash set is a set mainly used to Sub/Baton Pass into another Pokemon. This might be a bit too underrated for some of you but it's also very good in a lot of ways, including that this is the best Pokemon with Ghost/Steel combination (Yes I know, this, Doublade, and Honedge are the only Ghost/Steel). Well, anyways this isn't too underrated at all. Aegislash has the bulk and capability to survive for a long time in battles. When it's the time you must let it faint, there's destiny bond.
What are the purpose of Aegi's moves?
- Destiny Bond is for when Aegislash is about to faint. When Aegislash is forced to faint in battle, you can use Destiny Bond to bring down the opponent (best with a sweeper) with you to faint as well.
- Wish is used to recover any Pokemon in your team when necessary. The move lasts 2 turns so it's best to use wish and switch to the Pokemon you desire to be healed, or to just stay when you're healing yourself.
- Substitute to protect you from status or being cloned by imposter.
- Baton Pass to pass down the Substitute to the Pokemon you're passing it to to protect them from status or being cloned by imposter. It also can be used randomly without the Substitute to predict your opponent's move.
Now Some May ask what the heck are these 3 sets below?
Hacked Haxorus (Haxorus) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: No Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sheer Cold
- Gastro Acid
- Sing
- Trick
RD4RSC = OP (Basculin) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sheer Cold
- Gastro Acid
- Sing
- Trick
Mew2Mega (Mewtwo-Mega-X) @ Focus Sash
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
- Sheer Cold
- Sing
- Magic Coat
- Gastro Acid
These are random no guard Pokemon. These Pokemon are examples of Pokemon who can do the No Guard Sheer Cold job better than Deoxys-Speed.
Why could they do their job better than Deoxys-Speed? It's all for just one big reason; Your opponent won't expect them. If you noticed, Deoxys-Speed with Sheer Cold is so common in Classic Hackmons (especially low ladder) that it's kinda obvious what a Speed-Deoxys would do when you see one in battle. To make sheer cold most successful to hit, you have to make sure your opponent won't switch into a Wonder Guard or sturdy Pokemon, If the Pokemon you are battling is a Wonder Guard, you can use Gastro Acid to scare them off or sing to make them asleep.
What are the purpose of these moves?
- Sheer Cold to OHKO enemies. This outclasses all the other OHKO moves because this is the only OHKO move that can actually hit all types of Pokemon.
- Sing to make opponents fall asleep so you could make plans.
- Trick (If the random No Guard has a Choice Scarf) Is used to trade your Choice Scarf, to the item your opponent's Pokemon is holding.
- Magic Coat to bounce back status moves (especially sleep status moves) that might affect your chances of losing.
- Gastro Acid To make the ability of the enemy useless like it were to have no ability. This move is best to use on Wonder Guard, Sturdy, or fellow No Guard Pokemon but can also be great for a lot of other abilities.
And then there's this...
Unreal Legend (Latios-Mega) (M) @ Soul Dew
Ability: Turboblaze
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shell Smash
- Spore
- Psystrike/Stored Power
- Spacial Rend
This Unreal Legend (Latios-Mega) is basically a common sweeper. This Latios-Mega could start off strong after being baton passed to with a Substitute. This sweeper is extremely powerful as it already has x1.5 SpA boost out of Soul Dew. Some people using this set prefer Stored Power or Psystrike as their Psychic type offense move. Stored Power does more damage than Psystrike after set up to Pokemon that aren't Specially Defensive. Psystrike does more damage only before setting up but it demolishes Pokemon weaker in Defense like Chansey, Ho-Oh, and Regice (If Regice and Ho-Oh were more common but you get the point).
What are the purpose of these moves?
- Shell Smash is to raise Special Attack and Speed (It also raises Atk but lowers Defense and Special Defense) to make attacks more powerful and to have a higher chance of being first each turn.
- Spore to make the enemy fall asleep to make plans and attempt them.
- Psystrike/Stored Power to do a huge load of damage to the Pokemon you are against when or before you start setting up. Stored Power is the better option if you just want to set up and sweep. Psystrike is the better option if you plan to counter Chansey while being behind a Substitute.
- Spacial Rend for a higher chance to KO enemies and a higher chance of crit. This move is better against really bulky Pokemon like Giratina and Arceus usually after just 1 Shell Smash.
There is much to play with in hackmons :^)
